Where We Have Come From

Dawn was founded in 1985 by Dr. James Montgomery who went to be with the Lord in October of 2006. The DAWN VISION was born in his heart as wrestled with why the Lord had given a command that was impossible to fulfill. Why had he not stayed  in person to evangelize one by one the people of the villages of the Philippines where he was a missionary. Jim  was overwhelmed by a desire to see the glory of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, to see Jesus Christ incarnate in all His beauty, power and love in every small community of mankind. Saturation church planting (a church within easy reach of everyone) soon became the strategy for fulfilling the great commission.

Jim launched this dream with the publication of a classic, “DAWN 2000: 7Million Churches To Go” which birthed the DAWN MOVEMENT around the world. Over three million churches have been planted directly or indirectly. Dawn Ministries has projects in 94 countries in seven regions and aims to see every country in the world adopt a similar plan for completing the Great Commission.
