Asia-Oceania Leadership Development

Leadership Development and Church Planting Training in India is a primary need. City Pastors highly value the training that they receive which empowers them to go out and plant churches in their respective communities.
Asia and Oceania represents the largest region of DAWN, spanning the Countries east of Iran in the Middle East, to the Philippines in the Pacific, east of the Russian Ural Mountains on the north, to the Australasia-South Pacific nations in the south. This comprises 33 Countries with a combined population of approximately 3.3 billion people. India and China are found in the region, each with a billion people, and are considered to be the knowledge and production centers of the world by 2020.
The region is a mixture of challenges – prosperity and poverty, democracy and anarchy, freedom and persecution. It is ripe for the harvest. The downpour of the latter rain is coming and the believers are beginning to feel the sense of urgency of possessing their lands for Jesus.
Asia is where DAWN began. It was a vision given to Dr. James Montgomery, then missionary to the Philippines. It was in the Philippines that the vision was birthed and field tested. In 1980, DAWN Philippines set a goal of 50,000 local churches by the year 2000 from a baseline of 10,000 churches. By the end of the period, the Lord gave over 51,000 local congregations!
As of 2001, the estimate is that there are 869,765 local churches of all kinds. This means a ratio of 1:3,850 (church to population ratio). So much more needs to be done. DAWN approaches this in terms of three indicators: geographical – a church in every village (or equivalent); demographic – a church within easy access of people and language groups; and saturation ratio – a church or cell or gathering for every 100 or, for the most, 500 people.
