Western Europe

The Western European DAWN team in 2007. From Left to Right: Paulo Pascoal (Portugal, Latin coordinator), Andreas Wolf (Germany, researcher), Marc van der Woude (Netherlands, Organic church), Martin Robinson (Great Britain), Oivind Augland (Norway, Scandinavian coordinator), Reinhold Scharnowski (Switzerland, overall and Germanic countries), Andrew Jones (Orkney Islands, emerging church)

"Discipling A Whole Nation" - an impossible task? Our nations in Western Europe mostly do not look like disciples of Jesus. Old Christianity is fading away, postmodern diversity creates many local and individual "truths". We may face the decline of institutionalized "Christendom", but the Church - that unique creation that will stand against the gates of hell - is alive and preparing to speak into our societies in a fresh way. Exciting new and missional forms of church are being developed in our postmodern societies that express old truths in a new way.

The DAWN European Network (DEN) is an unusual brotherhood of leaders, based on vision, values, synergy and friendship. They are united by a common vision expressed in the DAWN strategy. We are excited at hundreds of House Churches emerging everywhere in Western Europe and long to see them welcomed as valid old-new expressions of Church. We see strategic city networks emerging - Christians of a city or region taking responsibility together for the discipling of their city - with a transforming effect on society. And we are excited at the various expressions of New Generation Churches.

We are currently working in the following countries: Portugal, Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Italy, France, Finland, and Norway.

From the President

January 20 was an historic moment not only for America but for the world as the Obama administration took office. Following the financial shake up that the west is going through, which has filtered to the rest of the world, everywhere you turn changes are inevitable. Most organizations, religious or secular, have had to make serious adjustments to face the challenges of the new year.
